Running to keep up. Because my life was on pause and suddenly I’m thrown back into the race. I am running to keep up, because no one will slow down and stroll with me, and I can’t stand it being alone behind everyone else. I am running to keep up, and pretending that I’m not struggling with my breath. I am running, and I’m full of fake enthusiasm and excitement for what is ahead. Full of hope that one day the pretense will become reality.
